Today, I was planning to write about reading, but life had something else in mind. During the past days and weeks I have been constantly reminded of the importance of asking questions, and asking for things, so now I couldn’t resist anymore. I just had to write a post about asking.

Your insanely interested mind comes up with an idea. A good one. You place it to the correct drawer in the storage room you call your brain. Then another idea pops into your mind. Storage, here we come. And yet another…
You know how it goes: your mind comes up with new ideas at such a pace that you either forget all of them before noon - or even worse - your precious brain blows up.

The time just before a new year starts is exciting because while we are physically still living in 2007, our minds are already wandering towards the next year. It’s the time when we tend to take a look at how the past year looked like and set goals for the next year.
I use Google Reader to follow what’s happening in the blogging world, and whenever I come across an insanely interesting post, I star it. This week I took a plunge back in history and decided to go through all the starred blog posts from this year.

It’s again the time of year when we get to decorate our homes with candles and warm colors, and listen to the Christmas carols that bring back all the memories from childhood.

One of the greatest inspirations for reaching for your dreams, your dream job in this case, is to look at others doing what they love. There are countless examples of people who do what they feel they are made for, and today I thought I wanted to present a few of them to you.
These fine people are all bloggers who I follow actively, people who are up to something important. They might not change the world but they are making the most out of their lives.

October was a good month for me because it proved that if I just keep adding valuable content to this blog, I am able to maintain a stable readership. But it was also a month of standing still and holding back. I didn’t take the extra steps required to find new readers, and because of that the blog didn’t grow.
That’s going to change now. This month will be a month of planting the seeds that will create growth. But first, let’s take a look back at October figures.

Last Monday, October 15th was the day that many bloggers had been looking forward to already for a few months: Blog Action Day. On that day 20,603 bloggers joined their forces by writing 23,327 blog posts about a common cause, the environment. While it’s hard to measure how many readers were reached, at least the 14,631,038 RSS feed readers of the participating blogs got to see a post related to the theme.

I’m writing this blog post at a bus stop next to the central railway station in Helsinki. No matter what direction I look, I see someone fighting for my attention: One bus is telling me about an upcoming charity concert that brings together some of the most recent finish pop idols. One is trying to get me to lease a car. And just now the bus 17 passed me by with huge ads for the grocery store chain Alepa.
