When You See a Green Light, Keep Moving!

It seems that this is your first time to my blog. Welcome! In this blog I will share my ideas on how you can make a living in a way that feels good to you, your family, your environment and everyone around you. If you want to know more about me and this blog, check out my about page. And if you want to stay updated on my new posts, subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for stopping by!

Sometimes you need to stop and think. But there lies a risk too: the risk of stopping for too long, maybe even for good. When you are standing still, you are not learning - and you are away from where the action is.

That’s why to follow up on my post about the everyday stop signs, today I’m sharing a fine collection of green lights. Keep moving!

Here’s the deal: It’s OK to stop - and if you see one of these stop signs, it even makes sense to stop and think about your life for a while. But even more important than to know when to stop is to know when to not give up.

To know that when the light is green, it’s time to keep moving.

No matter what others say. And no matter how hard it may be.

Dreams are great, but it’s actions that count.

So, take a look at the world around you, and if you see these green lights, don’t stop, but keep pushing through all obstacles that try to block your way.

The Green Lights

Sometimes, it’s easy: The sun is shining, the lights are all green, and you are loving what you do. It’s like a stroll in the park. Value days like these, but don’t count on them. Most of the green lights aren’t quite this bright - in fact if things are always this easy, it might be a sign that you are not really moving at all…

Sometimes, only the sky is the limit. Too bad that getting up there in the sky isn’t quite that easy. Big dreams are not achieved overnight and to get closer to the sky you need to climb a mountain. Make sure you notice the small victories on your way!

When you know you are doing the right thing for yourself, your loved ones, and the world around you, don’t give up. It’s the journey that matters, not just getting there first.

Sometimes you must go through hard times. It’s nothing like a stroll in the park. But it’s these dips that tell the good from the great. Keep walking: some day you will look back at these moments as some of your fondest memories!

When you feel that you have done enough (completed one year of blogging, for example), there is usually something even more exciting waiting just around the corner. Keep moving.

When you have something new to give to the world, don’t stop.

When the ones who have walked this road before you tell you that you are headed in the right direction, they might by right. Not always, though.

When your intuition tells you that you are headed in the right direction, listen to it.

And when you are unsure about your direction, keep moving. You will find out the answers as you go.

Nice post, Jarkko! Sort of just what I needed this afternoon as I sit here and ask myself, “What the hell am I doing?”

Very inspirational. I like tagging this type of article in Google Reader and saving it for a rainy day. :)

To quote a childhood friend, Kermit the Frog:

    It’s not that easy bein’ green;
Having to spend each day the color of the leaves.
When I think it could be nicer being red, or
    yellow or gold-
or something much more colorful like that.

    It’s not easy bein’ green.
It seems you blend in with so many other
    ordinary things.
And people tend to pass you over ’cause you’re
not standing out like flashy sparkles in the water-
    or stars in the sky.

But green’s the color of Spring.
And green can be cool and friendly-like.
And green can be big like an ocean, or important
like a mountain, or tall like a tree.

When green is all there is to be
It could make you wonder why, but why wonder why?
Wonder, I am green and it’ll do fine,
    it’s beautiful!
And I think it’s what I want to be.

@Mark: Thanks! Although I don’t really know any details about the project you’re working on, I’m willing to bet that you’re doing the right thing. Just keep pushing forward!

    Can’t wait for July 1st!

@Nimic: What a nice idea! I should start doing that too.

@Peter: Thanks for sharing this simple truth - it’s beautiful!
