@Komodo Dragon: Yep, that's true. Steve Pavlina presents a pretty good way to handle that problem: just start waking up early. Before long, you'll realize that you are so tired in the evenings that you just fall asleep at 9.

And it's not even hard at all... Unless others in your family want to keep you awake ;)

Another thing to keep in mind is that you don't really have to wake up early in order to have a morning ritual. You can do it at any time of the day. Waking up early makes it more efficient, because then the rest of the world is still asleep which makes it a peaceful moment, but it's not the only way to do it.

Good luck with your experiments!

like some people mentioned, this is a great plan. The only problem is sleep. getting up that early, will mean sleeping early.. which can be difficult.

@Anu: Thanks, I'm glad you enjoy the blog!

And thanks for the tip! My current notebook (a cheap Moleskine copy) is getting full, so I think I'll go get one from Akateeminen - maybe still this week :)

Hi Jarkko, just wanted to say awesome job with the blog! It's not every Finn who is brave enough to swim against the current and explore alternatives to 9-5 cubicle life (well, 8-4 over here) and be so insanely interesting in anything beyond the cabin in the woods ;) mad props for the language, I can't really detect Finnish-isms in your writing - also not self-evident unless you've had at least a bit of a taste of live elsewhere.

Tip of the day: you can grab a Moleskine from Akateeminen Kirjakauppa in Helsinki, they seem to have enough of a selection for starters :)

@Deron: Sounds like a plan! Go for it! :)

@Shirley: Thanks! It was awesome to be included in Kim & Jason's magazine. And yes, they are two of the nicest people I know. That, more than anything, makes you believe that there is truth in what they teach.

Nice list Jarkko. I like your ritual ideas. Especially having a relaxed start to your day, like taking time to listen to the silence and center yourself. It really does change the outcome of your day.

P.S. Nice article in Escape Adulthood. Aren't those two just a load of fun? :0)

Jarkko,

Well yeah I do work out frequently after work in the evenings (usually 3 or more days a week) but I generally only lift weights. I really need to start getting some more cardio in my routine. So, I'm thinking cardio in the morning and weights in the evening. We'll see what happens.

<em>Deron Sizemore's last blog post: <a href='http://www.randomjabber.com/blog/article/random-jabber-turns-one-year-old/' rel="nofollow">Random Jabber Turns One Year Old!</a></em>
