Time flies when you are doing something interesting. Not to mention something insanely interesting.
Insanely Interesting September
A month ago I declared this past month of September the Insanely Interesting September. A month full of adventures, new learnings and meeting exciting people. In my declaration I asked people to tell me their stories on what they are insanely interested in, and why this September was going to be the most interesting so far.
Quite early in the month I realized that the group writing project wasn’t really going to happen. But I didn’t want to give up on my idea of insanely interesting people telling about their insanely interesting lives, so I started to actively seek for them. I looked for people who are into different kinds of things and asked if I could interview them. Everyone I asked said yes.
- I talked with Kim and Jason about the importance of maintaining a childlike attitude towards life.
- Then I talked with Kevin D. Weeks about food, cooking and being a personal chef.
- With Audrey, the Coffee Sage we shared a cup of virtual coffee and chatted about coffee and blogging.
- Petri Purho told us about making games with an experimental quick development process.
- And two readers, Tiitus and Timo, wrote about their September in my comments and I created a post out of their thoughts.
And finally on the 29th I saw the first post related to the writing project’s topic. Shirley from Brighter Days for you and me wrote a fascinating story about why she is insanely interested in reading.
So, in the end I’m really happy to see what the Insanely Interesting September project turned into.
In the writing project I didn’t quite get the number of posts I was hoping for, but instead I found other ways to collect insanely interesting stories. I learned that if a plan doesn’t seem to work, there is always an opportunity to revise the plan and go for something a bit different.
New readers
This month was also interesting in terms of visitors.
My post on always carrying a notebook with you was StumbledUpon by some of you guys, and that brought me so much traffic that I ended up doubling my unique visitor count from August! Naturally the peak from StubleUpon didn’t last for long, but it resulted in a nice growth in my regular visitor count as well. Before the peak, the number of daily unique visitors was around 200, and now we are around 300 a day.
During the StumbleUpon crazy my RSS subscriber count peaked at 159. Now it’s gone down a bit, but this shows that there is potential for reaching 200 in October.
Big thanks to each and everyone of you, and my biggest gratitude to the folks who from day to day come and comment on my post. This blog is for you. Here is the list of top commentators for the month of September:
Thanks for sharing this insanely interesting September with me, and have a great October!
